The impeller of axial flow pump is equipped with 2 ~ 7 blades, which rotate in the circular tubular pump housing.

The shaft power of the axial flow pump is the maximum at zero flow, so the valve on the discharge pipeline must be opened before the pump starts to reduce the starting power.

Axial flow pump is mainly used for low head and high flow, such as irrigation, drainage, dock drainage, water level adjustment of canal lock, or for large circulating water pump of power plant.

Axial-flow pumps with a high head (double stage if necessary) can be used for water jet propulsion in shallow water vessels.
